This leather-bound blank book measures 8 x 10 inches with a thickness of approximately 3 inches. Its front cover features an exquisite leather rib cage, meticulously hand-carved from thick leather, realistically formed, hand-toned, and coated with special bookbinder's mixtures. The cover plates boast gradient levels with multiple layered applications, embossing, and carvings, resulting in a uniquely designed book.
In the tradition of "chained libraries," where books were tethered to lecterns or shelves to prevent theft, this book features a sturdy mounted chain on the back cover plate. The locking mechanism comprises leather straps, decorative metal ends, and pegs embedded in the edge of the thick front cover plate, adding intrigue to the act of opening and discovering its beauty.
The book block contains 300 leaves (600 pages) of 140 gsm weight, blank white paper sourced from the Italian company Fedrigoni.
